Pernambuco Bundle & Turning Squares
Guilandina echinata
Also called Ibirapitanga and Pau Brazil, this once important dyewood gave origin to the name of Brazil. The color of the heartwood is yellowish-brown to orange and is fine-grained, hard, and heavy. These squares may have minor defects such as pin knots, grain peck, and/or tiny, shallow checks.
It is now facing extinction over most of its growth area and is now listed in Appendix II of CITES (The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora). These squares came from stock we have had for over 25 years and way before CITES. So we do not have paperwork for exporting these outside of the U.S.A. Sorry, domestic sales only.
