How to buy from gilmerwood.com
At Gilmer Wood Company, we want to make sure you are happy with the products you choose to purchase from us. If at anytime on our site you have questions about a specific piece of wood, what species would be best for your project, or anything else you might wonder about, please don't hesitate to contact us. Our staff has over 100 years of combined experience in wood working and is incredibly knowledgeable about the species we sell. Our goal is to make sure you get the wood that is right for you.
The items that we put on our website are the best that exist in our stock. You can be sure that the items you purcahse on gilmerwood.com are exceptional quality, unless otherwise stated in the item descriptions. If you're looking for items that haven't been as highly graded and milled, check our sales and specials section. There you will find wood that may have some defects, but is priced accordingly.
Finding What You Want
Use the menu bar at the top of every page to start looking for items on our site which you may wish to purchase. Within each category, there are subcategories that will narrow the number of items you are looking at. The subcategories are based on the end use of the items, and reflect the sizes and qualities that are needed for those end uses.
Our search feature, also located at the top of every page, allows you to search our entire online catalog. You can search via wood species, end use such as guitar finger boards or turning blanks, or item numbers if you have previously looked at our site.
If you can't find something on our site that fits your needs, or see an item that is already sold, feel free to contact us. Our online inventory is only a small fraction of what we stock in our warehouses. It's likely we can find something that you will be happy with.
Call us with questions
Please feel free to phone us with any questions you have about items you see on our site. Much of our staff are wood wokers themselves, and can help you determine if the item you have in mind will be right for your project. And if you're not sure what you might need for a project, we may be able to point you in the right direction.
Shipping and Handling
Most orders within the continental U.S. are shipped UPS ground. If requested, we can send your package via FedEx or DHL. Orders that fit within the U.S. Postal Service flat rate boxes will be shipped via that method if it is the least expensive means of shipping. Orders to Alaska and Hawaii are shipped via U.S. Postal Service unless otherwise requested.
Most international orders are shipped via U.S. Postal Service.
Large, heavy or oversized orders are shipped via common carrier truck.
We realize that shipping prices can be a limiting factor in purchasing wood online. As such, we have removed all handling charges from any orders placed on our website to addresses within the United States, barring large freight orders. You will now only pay exactly what it costs to ship your package. Foreign customers may pay a handling charge depending on documentation or packaging requirements.
International Orders - Each country has its own regulations regarding the import of wood. Shipping to some countries may require additional documents which will add cost to the order. Some countries prohibit the import of select species. Please check with your country's department of Agriculture or Customs regarding the regulations for your area. Orders will be shipped at your risk.
We typically ship orders via UPS ground or USPS. Because shipping charges are based on weight, the total cost can't be calculated until after your order is packaged. We look for the most inexpensive method of shipping each order based on where your order is going.
If your order cannot be insured due to your country’s restrictions, you take full responsibility for your order once it leaves our facilities.
Payment
We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, money orders or business and personal checks in US funds. Sorry, we cannot offer open accounts. We reserve the right to hold personal checks for clearance before shipment. Sorry, no C.O.D.
Canceled orders are subject to a 25% restocking fee.
