Figured Claro Walnut
(Juglans hindsii)

click on photo for multiple close-ups showing the figure from many angles

This is the largest board of any Walnut species we have ever had. It conjures up images of the fantastic one piece tables that George Nakashima used to make. Claro Walnut has a unique coloration and a lovely smooth texture. This is one board out of an entire log, and it, like all the others, is highly figured with not only broken curl but also two beautiful feather crotches (protected by a sealer). A one in a million board.

Green to partially air-dried.

Figured & Quartersawn Bubinga
(Guibourtia tessmannii)
Table Boards

click on photo for close-ups of finished and non-finished areas

Called by some woodworkers African Rosewood, Bubinga is a deep, lustrous, brownish-red color with a fine, darker striping. The figure makes the wood doubly beautiful. It is very hard and heavy and takes a glassy, smooth finish. These were all cut from the same flitch and are sequential book-matches. A bonus is they are quartersawn and will stay nice and flat. Kiln-dried.

Bubinga
(Guibourtia tessmannii)
Large Table Top

Called by some woodworkers African Rosewood, Bubinga is a deep, lustrous, brownish-red color with a fine, darker striping. It is very hard and heavy and takes a glassy, smooth finish. Kiln-dried. We have measured this board inside the tattered sapwood so you will only pay for the sound heartwood. Will make a stunning square-edged table top. This has figure, but it is more subtle than in others on our site. This is more than made up for by the price, which is less than half that of a highly figured table top.
